“We are all faced with a series of great opportunities — brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems.” ~ John Gardner
If you’ve been reading these blogs the past few months you know that since April I’ve assigned a theme to each month:
- April = Disruption
- May = What’s Next?
- June = Clarity
- July = Competence
- August = Reboot
- September = Resilience
As we enter our 7th month of the Covid disruption, October’s theme is opportunity.
Finding Opportunity in Disruption
Folks are beginning to build new professional identities and creating new opportunities from the disruption of the last six months.
They’re leveraging their existing expertise to pivot in new directions that set them apart from others in their professional space. The opportunities they’re pursuing were borne from necessity. Previous businesses dried up as a result of Covid. New options emerged from enhanced awareness of diversity and inclusion. The need to find new housing led to property development and investment.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll share their stories — the motivations behind their moves; how the opportunity plays to their strengths; the challenges they faced; and their expectations about how their new opportunity will affect their work going forward.
So stay tuned.
